The fact that the Brussels event location The Event Lounge would be able to use the Green Key label from now on was announced during an official ceremony held on 19th December 2012. The Green Key is a widely respected standard for environmentally friendly accommodation. “Anyone wishing to obtain the label must satisfy extremely stringent criteria where the environmentally friendly management of the location is concerned”, according to the proud manager Gilles Poot Baudier.
The internationally renowned Green Key eco label was introduced a number of years ago, for the purpose of assessing tourist accommodation on their environmental friendliness. Campsites, youth hostels, attractions, hotels and guesthouses are just some of the accommodation types which are now able to apply for a ‘Green Key’ label. Meeting locations have also been added to this list since 2012. They will also need to implement an ambitious environmental policy in order to acquire the eco label and introduce clear action plans in order to put as small a burden as possible on the environment.
An entire range of fixed criteria needs to be satisfied in order to acquire the prestigious label, including the introduction of water and energy saving measures, a minimum proportion of ecological lighting (75%), environmentally friendly cleaning materials, catering products need to be minimally 35% organic, Fairtrade or locally produced, etc. Plus there are also a number of other optional criteria, like the generation of sustainable energy or flushing toilets with rainwater.
The Green Key offers many advantages. The location won’t just become attractive to environmentally conscious visitors, but plenty of money savings can be realised too. Being environmentally conscious is becoming increasingly more important to people when making their choices in their daily lives and whilst at work. More and more often companies opt to organise their events at locations which make a conscious effort to save the environment. Being awarded with an internationally acknowledged eco label, which puts these values in the spotlight, is therefore a definite strong asset for attracting environmentally conscious customers.
Does this not affect the quality of what’s on offer? “Never” according to a very resolute Gilles Poot Baudier. “Satisfying all these criteria in no way affects our efficiency. Quite the contrary in fact, obtaining the eco label fits in with our aim of constantly improving. A Green Key is by no means easy to obtain. The label indicates sustainability and to us it means we are always focussing on our customers’ needs.”
Volkswagen Import opted for Event Lounge to present the Golf Blue-e-Motion to members of Renta, the Belgian Federation of Vehicle Rentals. The Golf Blue-e-Motion is a fully electric car, whereby the lithium iron batteries guarantee a realistic autonomy of 150 km, despite an electric engine of not less than 85 kW (115 pK)!
The German manufacturer and Volkswagen Import want to use 10 copies of this prototype to test the electric car concept for a one year period before launching the electric up! in November next year. The e-up will be the first 100% electric Volkswagen to be commercialised. The e-Golf will subsequently follow a few months later.
Respect for the environment represents an essential part of both Volkswagen’s as well as the Event Lounge’s missions. It’s therefore no coincidence this location was chosen for presenting the Golf Blue-e-Motion to members of Renta.
An efficient management system allows Event Lounge to commit to reducing waste production and minimising the impact on air, water and soil as much as possible, within the context of its environmental policy.
Better still: Event Lounge trains its personnel and encourages its customers to also contribute to respecting the environment.
Event Lounge has turned out to be the ideal location by committing to the Green Key and CO2 logic charter.
The Brussels event organiser Event’ives recently organised Atos Wordline’s staff party in The Event Lounge. An impressive 500 guests were able to enjoy the fantastic party, which had been given the ‘Latino Chic’ theme.
The location perfectly linked into the chosen theme, as a result of The Event Lounge’s extensive facilities, spatial possibilities and variety of colours. All volumes were cleverly and light-heartedly dressed in red and black and gave the staff party that extra modern touch.
This is now the 10th year Atos Wordline (formerly banksys) has placed its full trust in Event’ives’ knowhow where the organisation of its festive evenings and other events are concerned. Following some cocktails on the first floor and ground floor, the employees made their way into the large hall for a sumptuous dinner in a beautifully decorated setting. The evening was musically enhanced by a Cuban band, which instantly managed to get the guests into the right latino mood.
Google organised the first ever event for agencies and web professionals in The Event Lounge, entitled ‘Google AdWords, Online advertising, tracking & measurements – How does it really work?’.
AdWords guru David Booth (US) came over to Europe especially for this presentation, which was on the agenda both in the Netherlands as well as Belgium. More than 400 guests joined David Booth for a full day of training and meetings in the Media Plaza in Utrecht. The Event Lounge in Brussels was ‘the place to be’ two days later, for the Belgian part which managed to convince more than 330 guests. So, almost a full house twice over.
D-Side Group took responsibility for the organisation of the entire event, including the room, the catering, the technical support, the decoration, etc. The participants’ attention remained incredibly focussed, as there was only one speaker on the day.
D-Side Group felt very honoured to be given this assignment and, with a view to a long-term working relationship, is already looking forward to the next challenge with Google.
